I am Tanja and here I want to tell you how I came to be a yoga teacher for kids.
My daughter was born in 2005 with complex CHD (Congenital Heart Disease) and this was when Holistic Practices & Yoga became integral to myself and my daughter as a way of life.
Siofra started doing yoga when she was about 6 years old. Not only did it help her physical body development, it also helped support her mental & emotional states developing into the confident teenager she is today.
As a mother of a special needs child having been through a rollercoaster of medical interventions and traumas over the years, still healing, holistic practices and the yogic lifestyle have helped us live a happy and relatively normal life ;)
Experiencing the benefits of yoga with Siofra I wanted to learn more about kids yoga. I decided to take the yoga teacher training for children at the elbowroom where I had been training regularly for some years.
I completed the course successfully thanks to my amazing teachers Lydia Sasse and Melissa Curtis who gave us such an amazing learning experience. On my way of learning and growing I have also been taught and greatly inspired by Nicola Foxe and Katarina Janova.
Since then I have been sharing yoga and wellbeing practices with kids, additional needs kids, teens and families nationally and internationally in studios, communities, Montessori preschools, primary & secondary schools, kids camps, libraries, at festivals and in independent classes.
In 2017 I was lucky to train with amazing Joe Manual in therapeutic Yoga for children with additional needs.
Other wellbeing practices that I take special interest and that I have trained in include mindfulness practices and meditation after the Plumvillage Tradition (Zen Buddhism, Thich Nhat Hahn), Reiki, Three in One Kinesiology Concepts (Gordon Stokes & Daniel Whiteside) and Sound Massage after Peter Hess.
Yoga trainings i have qualified in include Yoga Foundation training with Yoga Therapy Ireland, Yoga Teacher Training at YogaRoom Dublin, kids yoga teacher training & yoga for special needs kids training at the Elbowroom and Yoga as a therapeutic intervention for children with special needs with Jo Manual.
Sharing the gift of yoga and wellbeing practices with children for them to benefit and for them to learn to use these tools to help themselves in all the challenges of life and seeing them grow and use yoga to be healthy, happy and balanced little people is such a Joy in my life.
I am looking forward to seeing you and your precious ones at my classes and I look forward to having yoga fun with you all!!!
